Time and again we come across the children who are routinely engaged in paid and unpaid forms of work. These kids are classified as child labourers because they are either too young to work, or are involved in hazardous activities that may cause damage to their physical, mental, social or educational development. To address the conditions that drive child labour, a holistic strategy and effective policies are needed to boost social safety institutions, education, and decent job prospects for parents and guardians.
World Day Against Child Labour is observed on June 12th as a day dedicated to creating awareness about the menace of child labour and human trafficking. In order to support the cause, We at Wood-o-Kidz took the initiative to reach out to the children who belong to a less privileged section of the society. There, we created a temporary Toy Zone and asked the kids of every age group to play and spend time with our range of eco-friendly, sustainable toys. This activity was conducted with the purpose of giving these kids the opportunity to experience something that they truly deserve to have in their lives. We felt so delighted after seeing the kids enjoying their time while playing with our toys wholeheartedly.
Toys are an integral part of childhood, they give children a reason to smile, learn, express and grow. Unfortunately, having toys is a distant dream for many kids because of poverty and poor parenting. Possessing a toy should not be a luxury for a child and they should not be pushed to work in order to own one. We strongly believe that every child must have access to basic needs such as education, medical facilities, proper meals and toys as well.
